On June 1, 2020, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council issued the General Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, which proposed that the China International Consumer Goods Expo would be held and that overseas exhibits would enjoy duty-free import and sales during the exhibition period.

The first China International Consumer Goods Expo will be held in Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center on May 7th, 10th, 2021. Focusing on building Hainan as an international tourism and consumption center, the exhibition will gather resources in the global consumption field and build a global exhibition and trading platform for international high-quality consumer goods.The Expo is planned to cover an area of 80,000 square meters, divided into fashion life exhibition area, jewelry and diamond exhibition area, tourism life exhibition area, high-end food and health products exhibition area, comprehensive services exhibition area, provinces and autonomous regions exhibition area, inviting global well-known consumer goods brands to participate in the Expo, to build a multi-format, multi-category high-end trading platform.
