The China International import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Expo) is a major decision of the CPC Central Committee to promote high-level opening up in the new era, an important measure for China to take the initiative to open its market to the world, and a pragmatic action for China to promote the construction of an open world economy and support economic globalization. The CPC Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to it, and since it was first held in 2018, President Xi Jinping has personally attended and delivered keynote speeches at each session.

CIIE is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and organized by the China International import Expo Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
