Honglu Industry-located in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, 95 kilometers away from Mishan City. The predecessor of Honglu Industry is the state-owned deer farm of Xingkai Lake Farm. It was founded in 1958 and received a gift from the former Soviet leader Stalin from the Beijing Zoo. It was built for the 115 Soviet national treasure-class Ussuri sika deer of China’s then Vice President Liu Shaoqi. After more than 50 years of breeding, domestication, and four generations of scientific breeding, the Ussuri sika deer was officially selected by the national animal husbandry in 2004. The Xingkai Lake sika deer, one of the six well-known sika deer breeds in China, was approved by the Poultry Breeds Approval Committee and is the only sika deer named in Heilongjiang Province. It is also listed as a national Spark Program Development Project—Xingkai Lake Sika Deer National Breed Source Base. It was awarded the Project Excellence Award in the China Spark Program Achievement Exhibition at the Northeast Asia High-tech Expo and the Deer Breeding in the General Administration of Land Reclamation. Researching the second prize, Honglu Industry now has 46,000 square meters of pens, more than 1,300 deer in stock and more than 70 employees.
