Jiejin Mountain, a branch of the Xiaoxing 'anling Range, is located in the northeastern part of Heilongjiang Province, China, facing Russia across the river. It belongs to low mountains and hills. Its geographical features are: eight parts mountains, half water, half grass and one part farmland. Jiejin Mountain belongs to the North Temperate Zone with distinct four seasons. The winter is extremely cold with the lowest temperature above -30 degrees Celsius, while the summer is warm with the highest temperature above 30 degrees Celsius. Annual average temperature: -1 to 1 degree. Under the humid climate and unique temperature difference geographical conditions, there grows a distinctive species: wild Acanthopanax senticosus.
In Jiejin Mountain, there still lives the only ethnic group in northern China that relies on fishing and hunting for a living: the mysterious Hezhen people. The Hezhen people have always had the custom of using fresh leaves of Acanthopanax senticosum to cook and eat, or to stir-fry and drink tea. It's better to have a handful of five plus than a cart full of gold and jade. Buying grass with gold doesn't matter how expensive it is. High praise was given to Wu Jia.
